After 13 years, the National Basketball Association (NBA) is feared to have another labor lockout again. Following the long hours of meeting last week, NBA owners and players can not seem to agree on their respective terms, no proposal and counter proposal has been signed. Putting 2011-12 season in jeopardy and uncertainty.

The lockout would mean stoppage from work of NBA players. On that event, they are not allowed to access any NBA facilities nor associate themselves with the league until they officially signed to end lockout with the officials.  Lockout occurred as well on other professional leagues like National Hockey League (NHL) and National Football League or NFL.

Back in 1998–99, NBA recorded its 3rd lockout in league’s history.  It lasted for 204 days resulting to very poor TV rating and stumpy ticket sales.  Season has been cut down to only 50 games. Fans and media have almost unanimously shared negative comments and reactions.

While doubts and uncertainly are looming for 2011-12 season, tickets still are on the waiting list and the training camps for respective teams are on going.  Players may opt to transfer to various international leagues as just reported recently but the league we all love to watch for more than 6 decades will surely hurdle this current turbulence. *
